The story of Vibram is deeply rooted in the life of the company’s founder Vitale Bramani—a talented mountaineer and entrepreneur who invented the Vibram Carrarmato sole. In 1928, with his wife Maria Fasana, Bramani opened the first Vibram store in the heart of Milan. Since the 1960s, Vibram has expanded its research and production facilities around the world, with current locations in Italy, China and Massachusetts.

The company approached TDA to renovate their existing facilities in North Brookfield, MA. Sustainability is a top priority throughout Vibram’s business practices and was central to the transformation of this historic, 100-year-old shoe factory and 1980s office addition into a modern research, development and production laboratory to anchor their presence in the United States.

The project aims to achieve LEED Silver certification with a modern, yet regionally rooted, design that refreshes and improves accessibility and performance of the 1980s offices spaces, while production facilities were brought up to code with new locker rooms and facilities for workers.
